The Foscam VD1 is a smart doorbell on mains power, with the possibility to store camera images locally. The doorbell has an SD card slot, which means that a cloud subscription with associated costs is not necessary. The doorbell footage has a 2K resolution, which is of better quality than full HD camera images. In addition, the bell detects faces, so you only receive notifications when people are in the picture. You still need a subscription to enable facial recognition of acquaintances. The doorbell has dual-band Wi-Fi, so there is less chance of connection problems. Because the Foscam VD1 works together with Alexa and Google Assistant, you can also view live images on the screen of your Nest Hub or Echo Show.
